Madrid, Spain - In a move to attract more non-EU nationals with stable incomes and a passion for Spanish culture, Spain has abolished the 183-day residence requirement for non-profit residency permit holders. Effective March 4, 2024, holders of non-profit visas and work visas will no longer be required to reside in Spain for at least 183 days annually. This change is expected to benefit retirees, investors, business travelers, and families seeking a better quality of life in Spain.
Applicants for the non-profit residency must meet several criteria, including being over 18 years old, having a clean criminal record, not being on any entry ban list, having sufficient financial means to support themselves without working, purchasing approved health insurance, and providing a health certificate proving no serious illnesses.
